I'm just not that into you...

This over-sized tee by designer RosenMunns, which presumably was meant to be humorous, is printed with the text, "I ATE MARY-KATE" and I am not a fan. I live for sarcasm and satirical commentary, I have a pretty broad sense of humor, but I do not find this shirt to be humorous or remotely cute. And it isn't just my love for all things Olsen's, that causes me to find this ridiculous and somewhat cruel, for in general, it is just an ugly shirt, especially for $92.

So very many things to lust over lately! So let's just get to it!

• This unique Heirloom quilt and shams from West Elm! Really anything with retro keys, and I am in! I need to stop buying new bedding every 3 weeks, it is an addiction. 

 

• This Railroad Spike Cuff by 'Giles & Brother'! All my favorite jewelry is vintage or some unique yet mundane item configured beautifully into a jewelry piece, so it is no wonder this caught my eye. It is a steal over at shopbop!

                   

• Another steal over at shopbob, is the Love Quotes, Handknotted Fringe Scarf! It comes in so many delicious colors. I am lusting over the Love, Sunshine, and Maritime colors!

• This luxuriously soft looking military-inspired cardigan! Plus so many others from The Kooples!

 

On my doorstep...

was THIS today! Jonathan Adler's 'Druggist Tissue Box Cover' is a white ceramic tissue box cover with "Love" on one side and "Hate" on the other. It is cheeky and yet so lovely looking. Adler has many more fun bathroom accessories on his site that were tempting, but this was the only piece I was truly pining for and since I've been dying to cover up the unsightly Kleenex box in my room, it had to be mine!

 

Sorry, the photos are so small, but I couldn't get my hands on any bigger ones and I wanted to take a quick minute to share my fabulous purchase with you all today. Yay for packages on my doorstep!

Monday, whoa. My horoscope said things would get crazy busy starting today, and whew, it was right! One class into the new semester and I already feel a little overwhelmed. I'm into naps, but I never end up taking them, so instead I'll tell you what else I'm into...

• Hanky Panky:Long Stem Lovin' Low Rise Thong Bouquet-One Dozen Roses! Talk about a fabulous Valentines day gift, I'll take it! Though I think most boys would think $250 for a handful of panties is crazy, but we all know how fabulous Hanky Panky's really are! 12 long stem silk roses are wrapped in their super comfy lace low rise thongs in a variety of colors or all red roses, and come in a flower box with a red bow. This gift is sexy, sweet, fun, and totally practical;Does it get any better?!

• My new gold whistle necklace by Cynthia Rowley! After developing a hardcore crush on super stylish blogger MollyCake's gold bubble wand necklace, she informed me it was by Cynthia Rowley and I ran out to the nearest boutique the very same day! I own a couple things by Cynthia Rowley, but never paid any attention to her jewelry, until now! As I was fondling the lovely and whimsical gold bubble blower necklace, I eyed this delicate gold whistle on a long chain that I just had to get a closer look at! Both are fabulous pieces, but this I could see working into my wardrobe more often and once the sales girl told me they like to call it ' a fashion rape whistle', the novelty did me in and I had to have it! It really works though! It looks better on, I will try to take a photo the next time I wear it...

After the holidays, everyone is trying to cut back on expenses, including me. There is just so much out there that I am lusting over lately, so instead of breaking my bank buying it all up, I am writing about it and sharing it with you all. 

• Blu Bijoux by Max&Chloe! A reasonably-priced line of luxe-looking jewelry by Max&Chloe, that I'm drooling over today. Fantastic costume rings, colorful bangles, and delicately jeweled necklaces and earrings. I'm especially drawn to these simple Gunmetal Crystal Heart Earrings. 

 

• Rococo Family Keepsake Jewelry! Another reasonably-priced line of jewelry by etsy seller pleats, that incorporates vintage items found at estate sales and such into their pendants. Seemingly ordinary items such as pocket knives and magnifying glasses are paired with cute small charms to create the most lovely and interesting necklaces. I'll be keeping my eye on their site!   
•   Lists Mania!  For Christmas this year, I was a very good girl and was lucky enough to receive a beautiful new leather journal with an owl etched on the front cover and lovely textured paper inside. And so far, my new 2009 journal is comprised mostly of quotations, lists, lists, and lists! Lists of what I hope to accomplish, of books I've never finished, of types of puppies I want to own, of reasons I love Paris, lists of everything! I've become a bit infatuated with list-making it seems, and got especially excited when I found out this month's Real Simple magazine was dedicate to lists! I got even more excited when I came across this blog today! Secret Society of List Addicts is a fun blog dedicated solely to lists of all sorts, with eye-candy photos to go along with them, go ahead, click over and check it out! And start making your own lists too! 

   

• Unconventional Weddings+Wedding Photos! I've never wanted to be a wedding photographer, but I have shot a couple weddings in the past as favors. However, both were quite traditional-type weddings and for me, boring as can be. After coming across some wondrously unique wedding ideas and concepts, with some out-of-the-box photographs to boot, has got me thinking that maybe I could give weddings another try...if they all were in the non-traditional vein of weddings that is. I'm loving all the super creative and fun things people are doing with their weddings, from things as simple as a bride wearing polka dot wellies to a pin-up inspired wedding! These photographs are perfect, I love the bride's bright yellow bouquet and adorable wellies, sitting on the ground, not afraid to get a little dirty! 

 
  

A dream in white

If I were to get married today, right now, right this second...I would wear this dress! Michelle's Obama's dress from the Youth Inaugural Ball is a dream in white! The beautiful texture and whimsical details are amazing! I fell in love with it, the instant I laid eyes on it. I want to wear this dress and dance with someone I love in a room full of people, but dance on air, feeling like we are the only two people in the room, on top of the world. I wonder if that is how they felt tonight...

I haven't yet pinned down a specific day of the week when I will post my "I'm into you..." posts, since I am still waiting for my new term to begin and for things to get crazy, but for now they are just when I get excited enough about a bunch of things to share them with you all and here we goooooo:

• Dress forms. I have always wanted to have a dress form to display pretty dresses, accessories, and basically to just sit there and look pretty in my apartment. How lovely and girlie, I just love it! You can scour ebay for a nice vintage one, like I have been trying to do, but over the past year I have had very little success with this endeavor, so I have decided I may purchase this cute one from PBteen. Is it okay to purchase items from PBteen as an adult, I wonder. 

 

• An Apple Time Capsule! After having quite a few scares of massive computer crashes and harboring paralyzing fears of losing all of my information, music, and photographs, I have learned I need to back up my files much more often and in several places. THIS has answered all my prayers, it is a wireless hard drive and Wi-Fi base station. It has oodles of space, if you choose either the 500GB or 1TB server-grade hard drive. It's fast, firewall protected, automatically backs up files, and even wirelessly prints! I'm impressed, but it is just so hard to drop this much money on something that isn't a handbag...

 

• Creative Valentine Gifts! I'm a fan of thoughtful, creative, and often homemade gifts over expensive or generic gifts any day! And especially on days when you want to tell someone how much you care for them! I'm starting to brainstorm ideas and whatever I end up choosing, I know that these gold paper mache valentines from etsy seller palomasnest will be a part of it! They are a pretty pretty gold color and can be customized with any personal saying or initials that you so choose. I can only imagine more and more people will want these as Valentine's Day approaches, so I would hurry and place an order now. Seriously, go now...

  

• Grey nail polish. I've tried a few, but this one that I just picked up by China Glaze is my favorite of all. The color is called Recycle and you can get it for under $5 on Amazon. It is so sophisticated and delectable looking on my fingers! Pick yourself up some, it will inspire you to dress monochromatic and love it!

 

'The Impossible Project'

There is hope on the horizon! The best news of 2009 is 'The Impossible Project'!!!!!!!! This man has truly answered my prayers. An Austrian man, Florian Kaps, has bought a Polaroid factory in Amsterdam and has hired 11 of the original Polaroid workers to create a new film to be used in SX-70 and series 600 Polaroid cameras! Hopefully, we won't go long without our Polaroids, I've been rationing my stock since the news hit that the company would stop making the film. Even though it was projected the stock of Polaroid film wouldn't be wiped out until December of this year, I have found it impossible to get my hands on anymore for the past few months, so to say I'm excited is a major understatement. Grab your Polaroid film you've been saving,get out there and start shooting to celebrate such wonderful news!

Another day, another collection of odd and ends I love:

• Nice Sheets. When I first lived on my own in college, I didn't pay any attention to the quality of my sheets or comfort or my living space at all really. I was more concerned with how cheap I could get things and if they were the perfect shade of hot HOT pink. Needless to say, they were not especially comfy nor did they wear very well. I am now in the first apartment of quite a few, that I have ever felt like an adult in, that I have ever felt truly 'home' in, and making it a cozy and homey space has become very important to me. I am just now realizing how lovely it is to have nice, quality sheets and a comfy bed to retreat to at the end of a long work day.  

 

Linens-N-Things

Tip: Neiman Marcus has some pretty amazing sheet sets with high thread counts that look positively delectable but try out Linens and Things if you can: They are going out of business and prices are seriously slashed!

• Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz! The 'Travelers' series created by these artists have been on my mind for months and months. I'm dying to get my hands on a piece from it, I have a mild obsession with all things miniature (Check out the Thorne Miniature Rooms at The Art Institute of Chicago). They create snow-globes with tiny thought-provoking and often darkly humorous scenes inside that definitely have viewers doing a double-take. One depicts a pair of escaped inmates lost in a snowy forest, another is of a giant spider chasing a man down a hill, and another shows a couple of men throwing a boy in a well. As dark as them may seem, they all have this enchanting quality to them, especially by personal favorite:

• This 'Little Boy Kissing the Little Girl' Wall Decal by Etsy shop DaliDecals. It is so adorable, I can't stand it! Now I have to pick out a place to put it in my apartment...

    

• This Blue Studded Ring from Banana Republic. I have to admit, that I buy a lot of jewelry from Banana, but I also must tell you that it is always worth it. They carry a lot of classic-looking inexpensive pieces, but they also have different unique stand-out pieces that make you 'ohh and ahh' This is one of those 'ohh and ahh' pieces for me. Must have!! It is my newest obsession, and under $50!

 

Golden Globe Picks

Okay, another confession...I didn't actually get to watch the Globes this year, but no worries, because believe me I did make sure to look at all the footage and photos of the outfits. Here are my picks for best dressed at the Golden Globes this year. What are yours?

Drew Barrymore topped my list. She is getting flack about the hair, but I think it is hot, reminiscent of Marilyn. The dress, the makeup, the hair, I love it all! 

 

Mary Louise Parker looked divine in this stunning bright shade of blue. 

Eva Mendes pulled off a flawless look in a dress that made her look truly classic. 

I do have a soft spot for Maggie Gyllenhaal, but it is because I love how she imbues everything she wears with this fabulous retro vibe and old Hollywood glamor. This dress is different and she stands out. The hair is perfect too!

Amy Adams in a magnificent dress that I would rock any day. Though with my dark hair, I think it would be too much dark, for Amy, it is a different story. Her skin and hair contrast perfectly with the sparkly black dress.
